SCX Special Projects are about to commence the manufacture of a pair of Energy-from-Waste (EfW) cranes for a new Mechanical Biological Treatment Facility in Horsham, West Sussex.
The facility, one of a number being built across the country, will turn over 300,000 tonnes of West Sussex’s non-recycled household waste every year into enough energy to power 7000 homes in the county.
SCX Special Projects have designed two semi-automatic 15 tonne cranes which will work in tandem to collect the waste using their orange-peel grabs and feed it into two out-feed hoppers for processing.
With the designs now signed off, manufacture on the cranes can begin, with installation planned for 2011 and final commissioning 2012.
