Job Summary

The Goods Inward Inspector role strengthens the inspection activities within the SHEQ Department. Having a thorough understanding of precision engineering drawings, covering a range of metallic materials in a high precision engineering environment, the Goods Inward Inspector will liaise with stakeholders and suppliers regarding quality related matters, both on-site and at their premises.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verify and accept procured items in line with contractual conditions
  • Ability to understand drawings regarding fabrication and machined tolerances
  • Examine the finish of all parts to detect faulty finishing, painting and deterioration of surfaces
  • Undertake ‘first-off’ inspections;
  • Produce relevant inspection / quality control documentation
  • Check and complete all paperwork associated with the delivered article
  • Control defective items
  • Raise and maintain relevant defect reports
  • Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process
  • Contribute to the maintenance of an orderly and safe working environment
  • Undertake inspection operations at supplier premises.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Experience of working in a similar quality inspection role
  • Understanding of precision engineering drawings (including weld symbols, tolerance requirements, surface finish, etc.)
  • Must be flexible, well organised and able to work unsupervised using own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance if required
  • Experience of using Navision would be advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence is required
  • Appreciation of non-destructive testing techniques such as UT, MPI, radiography, etc
